Gearoid Lane

Gearoid Lane is the co-founder and CEO at Agility Eco Services Ltd, a company working to deliver renewable energy projects for clients in both the public and the private sector. Before entering into the energy industry, Lane received a MEngSc in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Ireland, Galway and a MBA from Henley Management College.

After his Master’s degree, Lane began working at British Gas, first as an Assistant Technical Officer, working his way up to be Project Officer in the Operational Research Department, and finally as a Business Analyst for the Europe Region throughout his 5 years at the company. As an analyst, he led negotiations and business development of Phoenix Natural Gas, establishing a natural gas business in Northern Ireland.

Working in Centrica as the Director of Energy Procurement for a few years, Lane then returned to British Gas as the Managing Director for British Gas New Markets in Middlesex. During these 6 years in the role, he built British Gas’ new growth businesses inleading the transition to the smart, low carbon homes and businesses of the future. This included smart meters and smart-enabled products and services, insulation, energy efficiency and microgeneration, energy services to social housing providers and public sector, and investing in emerging consumer energy technologies.

Lane also managed the growth of these businesses from start-up to substantial revenue and profitability.

Founding AgilityEco with is friend and former colleague Jon Kimber, the company provides services such as consultancy, project management, design, technical support, and installation. Between them and their team, they offer unrivalled knowledge of residential carbon reduction policy in the UK. With this information, AgilityEco uses this to help clients unpick complex support mechanisms such as ECO, Green Deal and RHI so that they can access funding opportunities for their energy efficiency projects. By combining the technical and commercial know-how Lane can then deliver innovative, cost effective energy saving projects. Through AgilityEco’s partner network, clients are able to have bespoke delivery solutions including consultancy, project management, design, technical support, SAP assessment, installation and regulatory compliance services.
